The inaugural Africa-Middle East Critical Minerals Forum aims to explore the synergies between the United Kingdom’s existing and potential future partners in Africa and the Middle East in the critical minerals sector, highlighting strategic investment opportunities, and identifying pathways for creating reliable and transparent supply chains while respecting net zero goals, sustainability, and responsible mining practices.
The inaugural Africa-Middle East Critical Minerals Forum aims to explore the synergies between the United Kingdom’s existing and potential future partners in Africa and the Middle East in the critical minerals sector, highlighting strategic investment opportunities, and identifying pathways for creating reliable and transparent supply chains while respecting net zero goals, sustainability, and responsible mining practices.
By bringing together stakeholders from the private sector, policymaking and diplomatic circles as well as academia, the forum seeks to foster relationships across sectors, and lay down the foundations of a long-term programme that analyses the critical minerals sector from a British foreign policy and development perspective.
For this inaugural forum, Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng who oversaw the conception and publication of the UK Critical Mineral Strategy will provide the opening speech which will be followed by 4 panels as follows :
