Both Co-Founder Guy Kioni and Debora Mongiovi are DPP and DBP Certified

Dernière mise à jour : il y a 4 jours

With a view to continuous learning, Dr Guy Kioni and Debora Mongiovi have passed the PIECE_Certified_Trainer_Program, co-funded by the European Union and led by the PIECE_Consortium including partners such as Minespider , Automotive Skills AllianceEuropean Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting (EWF)FAN 3D, UCRS & other institutions working at the intersection of policy, technology, and sustainability.

The training deepened our understanding of how the DPP_framework will drive compliance with the EU_Circular_Economy and improve traceability, data sharing, and responsible sourcing across the battery and critical minerals sectors.

As we continue to learn from and engage with this community, it’s clear that the DPP offers more than compliance, it’s a pathway to collaboration and shared accountability across continents.

EU's Digital Product Passport: Advancing transparency and sustainability

Starting in 2024, the European Union will implement a new regulation requiring nearly all products sold in the EU to feature a Digital Product Passport (DPP). This initiative, part of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, aims to enhance transparency across product value chains by providing comprehensive information about each product’s origin, materials, environmental impact, and disposal recommendations. The DPP is designed to close the gap between consumer demands for transparency and the current lack of reliable product data.

The DPP will include essential details such as a unique product identifier, compliance documentation, and information on substances of concern. It will also provide user manuals, safety instructions, and guidance on product disposal. By offering a detailed digital record of a product’s lifecycle, the DPP will enhance supply chain management, ensure regulatory compliance, and help companies identify and mitigate risks related to authenticity and environmental impact.

The DPP’s implementation aligns closely with open data principles. By making detailed product information publicly available, the DPP supports open data initiatives that emphasise transparency and accessibility. This approach will not only improve product visibility and sustainability practices but also facilitate better data sharing and collaboration across the industry. Open data’s role in this context highlights the importance of accessible, standardised information in driving transparency and accountability.

In conclusion, the Digital Product Passport represents a significant advance in product transparency and sustainability. As the EU moves towards full adoption of this regulation, it will foster a more open and responsible marketplace. By integrating open data principles, the DPP will enhance both the visibility and integrity of product information, benefiting companies, consumers, and the environment alike.

What is a DBP ? Digital Battery Passeport

A digital product passport (DPP) is a broad EU initiative for various products, while a battery passport is a specific, tailored implementation of the DPP for the battery industry. The battery passport, mandated by the EU Battery Regulation, provides detailed, lifecycle-specific data for batteries, whereas the general DPP will be used for many other products like textiles, furniture, and chemicals under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

In other words, Digital Battery Passeport shared the same aim of Digital Product passeport under 2 differents régulation , it aims to create a digital representation of the battery's life including :

  1. The Origin of its mineral componet

  2. Its production history, ESG metrics and carbon emissions at every stage of production

  3. Its performance levesl and data that contributes to better reuse or recycling
